ASTM A213 T92 (ASME SA213 T92) is a high-chromium alloy seamless steel pipe material, containing 8.5–9.5% Cr, 0.2–0.5% W and Mo, V, Nb, and other alloying elements. After normalizing and tempering, this steel pipe possesses ultra-high high-temperature strength, excellent creep resistance, and good thermal stability.
T92 steel pipes are commonly used for critical components of high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure boilers, heat exchangers, and superheaters, and are widely applied in the power, petrochemical, and energy industries.
UNS number is K92460.
Botop Steel is a professional and reliable alloy steel pipe stockist and wholesaler in China, capable of quickly supplying your projects with various grades of alloy steel pipes, including T5 (K41545), T9 (K90941), T11 (K11597), T12 (K11562), T22 (K21590), and T91 (K90901).
Our products are of reliable quality, competitively priced, and support third-party inspection.
The chemical composition requirements of T92 are highly stringent. Precise control of key elements such as C, Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, B, and N ensures the overall performance of the steel pipes. Chemical composition testing shall be conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of ASTM A1016.

Each tube shall be subjected to the nondestructive electric test or the hydrostatic test. The type of test to be used shall be at the option of the manufacturer, unless otherwise specified in the purchase order.
Common non-destructive testing methods include Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET), among others.
Manufacturer and Condition
Heat Treatment
ASTM A213 T92 steel pipes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be either hot finished or cold finished, as specified.
| Grade | ASTM A213 T92 |
| Heat Treat Type | normalize and temper |
| Normalizing Temperature | 1900 ~ 1975 ℉ [1040 ~ 1080 ℃] |
| Tempering Temperature | 1350 ~ 1470 ℉ [730 ~ 800 ℃] |
Heat treatment shall be carried out separately and in addition to any heating applied for hot forming.
All T92 steel pipes shall be normalized and tempered. The specific requirements are as shown in the table below.
Dimension Range
ASTM A213 T92 tubing sizes and wall thicknesses are usually furnished with 3.2 mm in inside diameters to 127 mm in outside diameters, and minimum wall thicknesses from 0.4 mm to 12.7 mm, inclusive, in minimum wall thickness.
T92 pipes of other sizes are also permitted under ASTM A213, as long as all other requirements of the standard are met.
Wall Thickness Tolerance
Permissible variations from the specified minimum wall thickness shall be:
