API Spec 5L specifies requirements for the manufacture of two product specification levels (PSL 1 and PSL 2) of seamless pipe and welded steel pipes.

IPS-M-PI-190(3) specifies requirements for manufacturing of product specification level PSL 2 of seamless and welded pipe for use in pipeline transportation systems in the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.

NACE MR-01-75 presents metallic material requirements for resistance to sulfide stress cracking (SSC) for petroleum production, drilling,gathering and flow line equipment, and field processing facilities to be used in hydrogen sulfide (H2S) bearing hydrocarbon service.  applicable to the material and/or equipment specified by the materials standards

Permissible Variations in Weight and Dimensions

Finished pipe OD WT length, surface quality, Straightness, polishing the defected pipe Visual and Dimensional Inspection

1. OD tolerance: (-0.75%D, +0.75%D)

Pipe ends OD tolerance: ±0.005D

2. WT tolerance: (+15%t, -12.5%t)

3. Ovality of pipe body: ±0.020D, Ovality of ends: ±0.015D

The WT at any point of the pipe shall be more than 87.5% of nominal wall thickness.

WT on pipes ends is measured with micrometer.

Wall thickness measuring on pipe body is performed by manual UT for WT covering 3 rings or section all along the pipe body with 6 readings at each section.

4. Pipe body bend degree: 0.20% of the pipe length Measured with a taught line

5. Pipe end bend degree: Should not be more than 3.0mm in 1.2m. Measured with a straight bar

Mechanical Tests for API 5L X52NS PSL 2 Seamless Steel Pipe ACC. To IPS-M-PI-190(3) & NACE MR-01-75 for sour service

Tensile testing of the pipe body—The tensile test should be carried out in accordance with ISO6892 or ASTM A370. Longitudinal samples should be used. Twice per test unit of pipe with the same cold-expansion ratio a.b.d.

CVN impact test—The Charpy test should be carried out in accordance with ASTM A370. Twice per test unit of not more than 100 lengths of pipe with the same cold-expansion ratio a.b.d.

Hardness Test—When suspected hard spots are detected by visual inspection, hardness tests shall be carried out in accordance with ISO 6506, ISO 6507, ISO 6508 or ASTM A 370 using portable hardness test equipment and methods complying with ASTM A 956, ASTM A 1038 or ASTM E 110 respectively depending on the method Used.

Hydro-static Test—Each tube shall be subjected to the hydro-static pressure test

HIC Test-sample be put in A solution ACCORDING TO NACE TM. 0284: 2003, test time for 96 hours. One test for each of the first three heat applied, thereafter, one test for each test unit of not more than ten heats of steel.

SSC Test-Sulfide stress cracking tests shall be performed in accordance with NACE TM-0177 2005 test solution A. Method A. Test duration shall be 720 hours. The test piece shall be stressed to 0.72 times the specified minimum yield strength.

Packing for API 5L X52NS PSL 2 Seamless Steel Pipe ACC. To IPS-M-PI-190(3) & NACE MR-01-75 for sour service:

b. 6" and below in bundles with two cotton slings ;

c. Both ends with end protectors;
